September was an awesome month.
I accomplished many long standing goals in my pipeline. I finished a novella. It’s a glorious mess, but has a beginning, middle and end.
I finished a major financial goals starting with a house refinance and culminating with a pension buy-back.
These put a smile on my face. But the biggest smile comes from my new honey, TC. Toasted Coconut. My Buick Cascada.
I had my old car for 14 years, and we had slipped into a comfortable routine with each other. But her repairs were beginning to mount up, and split between the things I had to do to keep her on the road, and the things I could live with, our relationship was no longer comfortable. The I-can-live-with-it list kept getting longer and longer. The flicker of the oil light. The hand break buzzer blaring as I braked to a stop (not using the hand brake).. The trunk keeper-uppers not doing their job. The water leaking through the window edge. And oh, the rattle as I drove over neighborhood streets. Not to mention the intermittent failure of the 20 volt fuse that made me an expert fuse replacer.
Enter TC. Toasted Coconut in color. Totally Cool. Too Cute. True Convertible!
I had been thinking of purchasing a new car. But a colleague gave me the idea of a lease. It sounded novel. It sounded forbidden; against common practice.
I was tired of driving cars until they drop.
I was tired of a car’s idiosyncrasies.
I think I was ready for a fling.
So TC and I have an arrangement.
A 39 month arrangement.
I will make my payments faithfully.
I will get her regular treatments at the dealership.
She will give me a smooth, stylish ride.
At the end of 2019, we will decide if we want to make the relationship more permanent.
