Romance on the Rocks

Where Happily Ever After is always on Tap!

What are you reading?

September 13, 2016 by Taylor Reynolds 2 Comments

I had a fun little story all ready for this month’s blog, but then Sarah MacLean happened.

Her latest release is A Scot in the Dark. It hit my Kindle a week or two ago, but it’s been hectic and I didn’t have a lot of time to read since it downloaded. Last night I decided to read just one chapter–

I don’t even have to finish that sentence, do I? You know damn well what happened. I got in bed at 8pm to “read one chapter” and then my Kindle died at midnight, so I plugged it in till it hit 4%, when I turned the effer back on and kept reading till after 2am.

This is my life.

Insomnia? Not even close!

The book was great – obvs. I cried for the heroine and I wanted to bash the hero in his great cabbagehead for always doing exactly what the heroine told him not to because it broke her heart. But it’s a romance novel and that’s how they work and since Molly O’Keefe coined the weepy-horny genre on the last Smart Bitches podcast I was happy to immediately read my favorite type of book.

Read it! And let me know what books you’ve read lately that you loved. Especially the weepy-horny ones!

I”m going to have to give it a try. I’m currently reading In the Spinster’s Bed, a novella by Sally MacKenzie. There was one point where I almost hated the hero, but he’s starting to redeem himself. 🙂

Yay for characters who manage to redeem themselves! It’s terrible to finish a romance and realize you didn’t like one of the main protagonists.
