Happy 2016. With the start of this new year I find myself at my childhood home visiting my family and managing some family business. I was six years old when we moved here, and it’s the only place that no matter where else I live, will always be home. Our family life is going through changes, and we are powerless in their path, so the memories are all flooding back.
There’s a certain type of magic that comes with laying your head on the pillows of your youth, and seeing a younger version of yourself in the corners of your memory. I find myself thinking more and more lately about how my life has been carved by the walls of this hundred year old house, and the people who have inhabited it.
This is where I met the boy of my childhood dreams, just five houses down the block, and across the street. This is where my girlfriends and I visited with each other during our teen years. This is where I celebrated my grade school and high school graduations. But most of all, this is where countless family functions welcomed friends far and wide to celebrate with us.
In every form and fashion, love and memory are magic. Love of family, friends, spouses, and partners each carry a magic that fills our hearts, and guides our lives.
On the day after Christmas, I attended my aunt and uncle’s 35th anniversary party, and in the midst of a beautiful evening, my uncle surprised her with a vows renewal ceremony. I found myself choked up, touched beyond words, and incredibly hopeful. These are life’s magic moments.
So, this year I wish you a year filled with love’s magic, in every form and fashion, happy memories, and most of all, reasons to celebrate.
Find us on…
