There are many topics I considered writing about this month. Veterans Day is important to me, especially considering I write romance with military and veteran characters. The general focus on thankfulness is lovely to see each November. The holidays are right here, which often lead to thoughts of family and sharing and even forgiveness. Also, I really want to know what you love about romance novels – what are your favorite tropes, who are your auto-buy authors, do you prefer tattooed bad boys or stoic billionaires?
But you know what? All that stuff has to wait because, honestly, November means food to me. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it’s completely (okay, superficially, but still) about the meal. And friends. And, yes, being thankful. And I’m seriously thankful for the food I eat with friends!
Yesterday, I invited myself to the homes of four different friends on Thanksgiving. One friend I had to badger into hosting because she and her husband hadn’t even made plans for the holiday yet. Since I invited myself to their house, I did promise to bring lots of sides. And they have another friend who likes to cook the turkey, so I actually did them a favor by planning their entire holiday for them and preventing all that stress! Wasn’t that nice of me?!
(We’ll see if she’s still talking to me today. I bet I have a lot of dishes to wash at their house before I head to my third turkey meal of the day.)
So, in honor of Thanksgiving, I’m sharing with you some of the holiday recipes I’m most thankful for. These are recipes that I’ve used before (I’ve been making the pumpkin cheesecake for at least 5 years now) and I promise they are easy to follow. Yes, even the homemade marshmallows are not difficult at all, though they can be pretty messy. But messy is fun, right?
Check out my Pinterest page if you’d like to see my other “proven” recipes.
What are your favorite holiday recipes? If you know me at all, you know I’m always down to cook and bake and generally experiment in the kitchen. (And if you don’t know me at all, well, now you do 🙂
